Training for a mtb marathon

A mountain bike marathon contains not only many kilometres but also a lot of altitude metres through often varied terrain, a serious challenge that requires a targeted approach in mountain biking and training guidance.

With years of experience in competitive sports, we coach you conditionally, technically and mentally to a higher level and the desired result! So that you can start your cycling mission fit, trained and at a high level and enjoy it.
Tailored to the course of your chosen mtb marathon, you will receive different types of training in preparation, including strength training and core stability. We focus on improving condition and endurance, learning to climb better, and more explosiveness.

Tips and advice

Besides continuity in training, there is more to cycling a large mtb event or multi-day mountain bike marathon. To perform well and finish the race you have to be able to maintain your material and make choices in for example tyres, clothing and nutrition before and during the event. Your SoulRide coach can give you tips and advice on these matters.

Training for a multi-day mtb marathon often requires a longer period of build-up. That is why we adapt your training schedule as much as possible to your personal situation, schedule and weekly rhythm. As an MTB coach and trainer, we determine the training plan with you, we plan rest and recovery so that your body can become stronger from training. We also pay attention to choices for a sportive lifestyle with healthy food and sufficient sleep.

In this way, we make the challenge manageable and ensure progression and confidence in your training. Together we discuss the pace at which you will get ready for your mountain bike goal.

This step-by-step plan is suitable for both the recreational and competitive mountain biker who wants to get fit and push his or her limits in preparation for and during a mountain bike marathon.

MTB clinic for mountain bikers who are looking for better mtb technique

Working method

#1 - Intake interview online or by telephone

After an initial meeting, you will receive an intake form on which you provide background information about your sporting history and your ambitions. In an intake interview, we discuss this information and your goals in the field of sport and mountain biking.

#2 - Discuss and create training plan.

After the intake, we will make a training schedule and plan a starting date for your workouts. At the beginning you will start with a few tests to determine what your zones are, so that you can start your workouts properly and specifically.

#3 - Weekly personalised training schedules

Each training session is uniquely written and tailored to your goals, experience, age, gender, body type and schedule. You will receive your weekly training schedule via Trainingpeaks. In this training software app, you can provide feedback on the training sessions you have completed and upload your training data from your cycling computer or smartwatch. We will provide you with feedback!

#4 - Telephone coaching call 1x per week

Every week we will discuss your progress on a mental, sporting and social level, give you tips on how to reach your goals, pay attention to keeping you motivated and having fun, and adjust your training where necessary. Short questions can be asked via email or WhatsApp, and where necessary we will call in our partners if our experience is not enough.
